Want a portable WebDAV client? Here’s how to get one!
Don’t want to read the story?! skip directly to the download! But I strongly suggest you read.
So I usually backup stuff (mostly school work) from my key to the cloud. that is, the Dropbox cloud. I use SyncToy to automate this. The only problem — our school blocks Dropbox — and even if they didn’t, I’m not going to install the client on the computers, or even use DropboxAHK portable (Google it). It would take too long to sync all the files. So I use Otixo along with Dropbox for WebDAV access so I would not have to sync all the files and so I could bypass the Dropbox blocking without a pr()xy. But one problem — the WebDAV client built into Otixo really sucks. You can’t even zip and download folders [feature request?]. That’s when AnyClient from JScape comes in. It is an online WebDAV client that allows access to any WebDAV server. You can also install Anyclient on a USB key. And since Otixo allows WebDAV access from external sources, I can use the two (AnyClient and Otixo) together to gain access to Dropbox without syncing all the files while on the road, or at school. Want a download of AnyClinet?!
Put it on your USB key:
http://www.jscape.com/downloads/anyclient
Or use it online:
http://www.jscape.com/products/file-transfer-clients/anyclient/anyclient-web-service/
Another online WebDAV client (this one is not that good at WebDAV, but it does have some “creative” features)
NONE OF THE ABOVE LINKS ARE AFFILIATE LINKS. That’s right, I’m honest!
The most powerful laptop in the world — think your Ailenware or Macbook are powerful? Nice try!
As you may have known, Ailenware claimed, not too long ago, that they have “The most powerful 17-inch notebook ever”. Apple also seems to be advertizing their laptops as really prestigious, and ASUStech seems to be hyped about their new NX90. Apple, ailenware, and ASUS aren’t bad companies, but wait till you see this: http://www.eurocom.com/products/showroom/specselectnew.cfm?model_id=214
Kitguru was was able to customize this laptop to “4.4TB of storage, 24GB of DDR3, with Xeon processors and GTX 480 running in SLI” to quote them. That’s just…
How to remove the bundled crapware that came pre-installed on your Dell PC
Ok, so you just got a brand new Dell PC (or Ailenware PC) and you are eager to open it up. You opened it up, ow it looks so good…
You hook it up (if it is a desktop) or open the lid (if it a laptop).
You turn it on. Aaaaargh, bundled software! Wow, your computer is as slow as… well, lets not say
How do you remove it? you could manually remove all the programs and have a littered regestery and a fragmented harddrive, further slowing down your computer. You could use http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/download or http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html but these programs might still leave huge gaps on your Harddrive or a huge mess somewhere. Do you really want that?
If you answered no to all of the questions above, read on…
In order to remove all that crapware, download the FREE guide… nah, just pulling your leg! I’m not going to make you do any surveys or anything to read the rest.
Actually, to remove all this crapware
- Call Dell customer support (check their site, dell.com, for their number, it changes all the time)
- Ask them to send you the driver CDs
- Re-install windows with the recovery CD
- Re-install ONLY the CDs labeled “drivers”, NOT and CDs labeled “pre-installed software” or “software trials” or “crapware included with your computer” (I was joking about the last one, YES boo, my jokes are stail), or contact dell and they will do it for free (just make sure to tell them ONLY to install the necessary and essential drivers, NOT any bundled software).
- Now you have a jet-fast computer.
PS: this worked for me, but not with my HP! Ok, I really need to improve on my jokes, but NO, this will PROBABLY now work on HP or Beats computers. I ordered an HP computer about one and a half years ago, and their customer support was TERRIBLE! It could have improved by now, but I don’t know. Dell customer support is the bomb (in a good way). They treated me like they were my friend, not just another customer. But yeah, now I sound like a Dell salesperson, lol! I’m not, I just like Dell (and asus) for laptops, and myself for desktops

iPaperweight app. Want a paperweight!? theres an app for that.
Just today I want to the app store, and guess what I saw. an app that turns your iPhone into a paperweight. Do you have trouble keeping your papers toghether? are you too dumb to just press the sleep button on your iPhone and put it on your flying away papers? do you want an app that fixes all that? Do you want an app that does ABSOLUTELY nothing? then iPaperweight is just the app for. Starting at just 9.99. get it now while it’s hot! (sarcasm ended) here are some screenies:
Android-ish Dashboards for iPhone, iTouch and iPad.
So, your friend who was jealous of you having an iDevice has just got an android, and is now bragging to you about the widgets on the home screen. Well, get them back, now! Here are a couple of programs that mimic the android widgets.
Springboard
These widgets reside as apps on your springboard that you can open just like any other app. Some of the programs can even be opened with button gestures (ex. double-tapping the home button) from any app (they will run over the app).
Widgets box (available at the app store)
3rd. This little app is just beautiful, and totally mimics the android home screen, except for one thing: YOU CAN’T ADD OR REMOVE WIDGETS! This is a big problem, especially since the free version only comes with two widgets: an android-ish clock and an app theme changer, and the paid version only comes with four widgets: an android-ish clock, a battery meter, a weather widget, and an app theme changer. That makes it quite useless, despite how nice it looks. Compatible with iPad/ios 4.

Mobile Dashboard
2nd. Mobile Dashboard looks OK, with a look almost exactly like the dashboard on a Mac. It costs $1.30 and is an OK app. It functions really nicely: it lets you all apps and remove them. It is compatible with most Mac dashboard widgets, and can be pulled up from most apps by double-tapping the home button. The only problem with this app is that there aren’t much configurable settings, and if you have a button assigned to the home button double-tap, it will overtake that app. This is my case, because I have backgrounder set to minimize an app when I double tap the home button. Also, this may lag your iPod touch (but remember — I am using a first gen iTouch, so everything is slow for me, this just made it slower) so that’s just another heads-up! iPad version is just called “Dashboard” not “Mobiledashboard” and I think it works the same as Mobiledashboard. NOT IOS4 COMPATIBLE!

iDashboard
1st. WINNER! But only in my case. This app looks average, and works GREAT… if you know what you’re doing. It has many settings and you can add widgets, but ONLY if your OK editing files. If you are in doubt that you will be able to manage this app, then MobileDashboard is the winner (ios 4 and iPad compatibility unknown)!

Lock Screen
The is lockscreen is the second best framework for widgets (just beside the ios 4 multi-task screen) and will is my prefered framwork (because I cannot install ios 4 on my first-gen iTouch) and is a convienient place for widgets.
iDashboard
3rd. That’s right: iDashboard can also be used on the lockscreen is you enable “iDashboard” in Winterboard. But your settings are not used, and it takes too long to load each time and looks ugly when it does load. This app is definately not for the lockscreen. ios 4 and iPad compatibility unknown.
(I don’t need to show you the screenshot again, do I, lol!)
SmartScreen (not like on Internet Explorer but same name!)
2nd. It looks beautiful and claims to be fully compatible with with ios 4 and iPad according to MediaPhone, the app authors. You add/remove widgets from the app on the springboard, and you can re-arrange widgets on the lockscreen it’s self. The only reason I did not rate it number one is because it is FIVE BUCKS USD PLUS SOME WIDGETS COST MONEY! This is the only un-fair part. Like I stated above, fully compatible with with ios 4 and iPad.

Quickwidgets (obsolete, but a legend in my humble opinion)
1st. WINNER! Quickwidgets is an amazing program that is free. Add http://cydia.myrepospace.com/antoniorizado/ (not my repo, I have no control over it) to cydia to get it because the official repo, (http://isoftru.ru/beta) does not have the app anymore. This app lets you add/remove/re-arrange app on the lockscreen its self. Just hold a widget down! NOT IOS 4 OR IPAD COMPATIBLE and will probably never be!
PS: There’s one more called cydgets, but I don’t like the way it works and it is even clumsier than iDashboard on the lockscreen so I would rather not talk about it.
PPS: There are three programs, Intelliscreen, LockInfo, and HomeScreen2.0, that also display info on your lockscreen, but this is in the form of a list, not widgets, so I did not mention them (except in this PPS) in this blog post.
Multitask screen (double-tap home on ios4)
This framework does not have any widget programs YES, but here are my predictions:
Mobiledashboard 2
I think that since Mobiledashboard is not compatible with ios 4 but is still activated on the double-tap of the home button (which is quite ironic), it will be a Multitask Screen feature. But these are just my predictions.
Convert .pub documents to .doc and .docx REALLY EASILY (no downloads)

GPS that closely resembles iphone 4
Ok, so I looked in the local Best Buy ad, and guess what I saw (well, you don’t really have to guess if you look down):
Yup, this GPS: the Garmin Nuvi 4.3″ GPS, seems to resemble the iPhone 4. This is not new, especially since products are always trying to resemble popular products. Bus seriously — it resembles and looks almost just the iPhone 4, a little TOO much. Now, usually, products from Garmin, a trusted company, would not do this. But it looks like all the popular companies are trying to copy the new iPhone. No wonder, too, looking at all the people that are trying SO SO hard to get this device mainly because of it’s looks. In fact, take a look at the GPS yourself:
McAfee Taking Bribes
Mcafee CrapAdvisor seems to be taking bribes. But this is nothing new among big, greedy companies. Here’s possible proof
So you can buy a secure badge, even though your site has crap on it (as you can see, Sweet IM and StopZilla, two well known virus sites, are rated secure by siteadvisor while being rated RED by WOT, a community based non-machine tool, and both sites have bad user reviews on site advisor written by users with a high reputation) and you cannot trust siteadvisor anymore. You can, though, use Web Of Trust, which is safer, and no, I am NOT making you download a virus (check the SiteAdvisor comments).
Microsoft owns a mac and are paying to work in the app store?!?
Okay, take a look at this:
Looks like MS is up in the app store, and is publishing apps there. As we all know, you need an iMac AND an apple developer account in order to publish to the app store. Obviously Microsoft owns both, which is pretty sad (I mean Stephen Balmer with an iMac, seriously?!) and unfortunate to Microsoft.
